Carolina Celeste Torres is from Miami, FL and began her dance training in ballet, flamenco, and Spanish dance at the age of 8. She continued her flamenco studies with Clarita Filgueiras and later became a member of Flamenco Puro Dance Company, where she performed at venues across Florida including the Colony Theater, the Adrienne Arsht Center, and the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center. In 2010, Carolina partook in II Cilco Dedicado A La Formacion del Baile Flamencoin Madrid, Spain at the prestigious flamenco school, Amor de Dios, andtrained with world-renowned flamenco artists such as La Truco, Maria Juncal, Carmela Greco, and Pepa Molina. Carolina has studied Spanish folkloric dances, such as la jota, and is trained in the flamenco instrument of castanuelas or palillos. She is also trained to dance with flamenco elements such as manton de manilla (shall), abanico (fan), bata de cola, and baston (cane). She has danced in Florida Grand Opera’s production of Carmenin2010 and2016, as well as with the Opera Naples in 2018. In 2016, she performed in University of Miami’s Frost Opera Theater’s Ainadamar choreographed by Rosa Mercedes. Carolinacontinues her training by attending workshops with prestigious international artists such as Eva la Yerbabuena, Antonio Canales, Farruquito, Rocio Molina, Pablo Egea, Maria Juncal, Cristian El Truco, La Truco, Alfonso Losa, Antonio “El Farru,” La Lupi, Belen Maya, Manuel Jose Gago, Irene “La Chiqui de Malaga”and Siudy Garrido.With Siudy Flamenco Dance Company, Carolina participated in “Amor Brujo” at the Adrienne Arsht Center in 2018;in NBC Universal’s World of Dance Season 3;“Amor Brujo” at the Hollywood Bowl Los Angeles, Californiain 2019; “Flamenco Intimo” Tour Fall 2019; the premiere of “Bailaora” in 2019;“Flamenco Intimo Tour II” 2020 –2022;and in the revival of “Bailaora,” atthe Adrienne Arsht Centerin 2021. These tours included performing in theaters such as Symphony Space in NYC, The EbellWilshire Theater in LA, among other notable venues in San Juan, Costa Rica,Kansas City,Houston,San Francisco,and Santa Barbara. Carolina recently completed intensive summer courses in Sevilleand Madrid, Spain with Amor de Dios, Formartewith Jose “ElOruco,” Juana Amaya, Maria Juncal, and Alfonso Losa, and she frequently dances in various tablaosand venues throughout South Florida.
