Lourdes Gomez has been a member of the South Florida Ballet Faculty since 2019. Ms. Lourdes was born in Havana, Cuba where she studied at la Escuela Nacional de Cuba. She became a principal soloist at the National Cuban Ballet under the direction of Alicia Alonso, performing in America, Europe, and Asia. As a principal, she performed in Swan Lake as Odette-Odile, Coppelia as Swanilda, Don Quijote as Kitri, and La Fille Mal Gardee as Lisette. Ms. Lourdes became a Ballet Mistress and Assistant to Monterrey Ballet Artistic Director, Jose Manuel Carreno (former ABT Principal Dancer).
In 1988, Ms. Lourdes won first prize and a gold medal in the Rio de Janeiro International Competition in Brazil. She was invited to play the role of Odette-Odile in the Swan Lake production for the National Dance Company in Mexico production. In 1995, she taught in Monterrey for The Superior School of Music and Dance, and was recruited as the Rehearsal Director for the Ballet Concierto School to prepare ballets like Giselle, La Vivandiere, Raymonda y Grand Pas de Deux. Ms. Lourdes has been invited as a guest teacher at El Centro Andaluz de Danza (2009-2010) in Seville, Spain and is currently the Rehearsal Director at CODA21.
